Red Dawn

In 1984 the original “Red Dawn” came out.  Now in 2012 they redid the film and took the main idea into a whole different direction.  They used modern day threats to the nation.  In the original it was the Soviet Union because we were in the Cold War. This time they used North Korea.

In the beginning of the movie they had a montage of interviews, news paper articles, and events that has happened in the last three years if I had to guess.  Then it cuts to a football game where it shows both of the protagonist’s. They are brothers. One is a veteran, and the other is a high school quarterback.  The day after North Korea invades,  they get out of the town and form a rebellion of family, and friends.  The marine teaches them how to fight, and they take the fight to the Koreans.

The action in the movie is awesome. That’s about the only thing good about the movie.  The plot basically follows the original just a new location, new people, and a new enemy. I personally think it’s a “wait til’ DVD release”, but if you are one of the people who have to see the movie in theaters because it’s better then you might want to consider this.  Great sound effects, alright plot, but bad ending.  I give it six and a half out of ten.
