The ladies of Ripon High water polo had one busy weekend starting with the Buchanan High Invitational in Clovis September 26 and 27. The we won three of five games over the course of two days, with our last one being the best we’ve ever played. Kyra Foley blocked the game saving goal with 2 seconds left (with her face). “I think that was the best game I have ever seen you girls play!” said coach Christine Zador.
Our busy weekend came to a head on Monday, September 29, when both us girls and the boys played Oakdale High School at our home pool. We saw our largest group of by-standers including not just parents but Mr. Wrangle, Mr. Derek, and Mr. Morrow. Additionally students from leadership (former players Emma Lewis and Maddie Haws, plus Ellie Waters, Zaire Davis, Gia Helppie, Marissa Regalo, and Branden States ) came to support their friends by making posters and bringing balloons. “Water polo is such and unappreciated sport at our school I really wanted to make sure that this year they felt appreciated,” said senior class president Emma Lewis. Unfortunately us girls did not beat Oakdale, but fear not RHS did come out with a win on Monday by our boys!
