Who would have thought on November 6, the Ripon High’s varsity football team would think of such an extra way to celebrate the play offs. The whole team thought it would be an exciting experience to bleach their hair. Yes, you heard that correctly. Every player that was on varsity, including those who were pulled up and a few coaches had their hair bleached.

Several of the players went to the extremes of bleaching designs onto their head, while others bleached the top of their heads, but the majority of the players did the bare minimum bleaching just the tips of their hair in order to keep their natural color intact.

Jesus Torres, a senior at Ripon High, answered our question during the interview.

“I don’t regret it because it was for the team. They mean a lot to me.”

With the varsity team going 4-1 in league, making it to playoffs is an unforgettable memory. Especially for the seniors, these games in playoffs are  cherished.

“Playing in playoffs is more valuable to me now because at any time it could be my last game forever”, Jesus Torres mentioned.

Not only was this a great team bonding experience, it will be something every single player and coach will remember for years ahead.
