SF Dungeon Drop Ride: Worth The Money?

During my spring break of 2018, a friend and I went to San Francisco to kick it for a day. Just before we left, we stumbled across an attraction called the San Francisco Dungeon and Drop Ride. We were a bit skeptical, but in the end, I definitely think that the drop ride was worth the money for the tickets and was a great experience and time killer in exploring San Francisco.

The ride was an entire experience complete with different sets and live performances by actors who gave backstory to San Francisco during the time period of Alcatraz being in use. The effects were great, the experience was active, (keeping everyone on their toes) and it was the highlight of the trip we took to SF!

The attraction was more than just a ride. It was an entire trip through the different sets and narrators who did the storytelling in 360º themed sets. There were a total of nine interactive shows about San Francisco’s dark and scary past. They featured state-of-the-art special effects
that had the audience laughing, screaming, and having a great time overall.

Compared to other similar attractions I’ve seen, this one was better because of its interactive shows. Despite the extra flare and excitement added, it was admittedly anticlimactic upon arriving at the drop ride due to it being much smaller than other rides, but the rest of the experience made up for that, in my opinion.

I would say that the SF drop ride is absolutely one worth checking out and is a great way to burn time near bigger areas such as Pier 31 and Ghirardelli Square. I would say it is ⅘ stars.
