Ripon High School has officially settled into the new year after its annual Black Light Rally and Neon Dance. For freshmen that means getting comfortable with highschool. For everyone else though, it’s looking back at previous years with the desire to improve.

The Black Light Rally, which took place on Aug. 30, always tries to raise excitement and spirit for the upcoming Neon Dance. This year they definitely succeeded, according to some interviewed students.

“I feel that the spirit during the rally was a lot more enthusiastic than usual because all of our classes, especially the junior class, stepped it up,” said junior Andrea Fierro.

With excitement flowing throughout Ripon High, the Neon Dance was ready to take place. For freshmen this was their first high school dance and a chance to let go of all their worries of entering a new school.

“Well I felt like high school was gonna be really hard, but then I went to the dance. Everyone was having fun and I had a lot of fun, so I thought it won’t be too bad,” claimed freshman Abby Villegas.

There were some notable changes this year that a lot of people seemed to enjoy. One example would be this years dj, and his selection of music. An added surprise was the concert pyrotechnics, which shocked everyone when they first went off.

“Honestly I enjoyed the dj and music more this year. The sparklers were a nice touch and the djs were super nice after the dance,” stated junior Brendan Lan.

It was apparent that everyone who attended the dance had an amazing time. Students got to enjoy a break to their new classes and start the year off right!

“Everyone was really excited I could tell. Everyone seemed to open up more even though some people are quiet,” Villegas also mentioned.
