Updates on the Corona Virus

Rabies virus

People all over the world are bracing and taking precautions as more information is coming out about the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. If unfamiliar with this virus, Coronaviruses are viruses that cause disease in animals. This specific virus has similar traits to the flu and has been set to be seen as an epidemic as more and more cases are seen worldwide.

This past Wednesday, the World Health Organization has reported there has been 120,000 cases of the COVID-19 virus. It is evident that most of the cases seen are in China with 80,000 people infected and Italy with nearly more than 10,000 cases. This leaves the rest of the world with the remaining 30,000 cases. These numbers are only counting those who have been diagnosed and it has been predicted that there are thousands of undiagnosed patients with smaller symptoms.

— There have now been more than 120,000 cases worldwide, and more than 4,300 people have died. The vast majority of cases are mild, and almost half of those infected have already recovered.

The statistics are not here to overwhelm anyone who has a healthy immune system. According to the CBS News, there is nothing to over exaggerate or be alarmed about. The cases seen up until now have indicated that a big portion of the cases have not been a big threat to the person and some have even already recovered. This shows us that although anyone is prone to this virus, the chances of it severely damaging your system are very low.

“South Korea has carried out about 4,000 tests per million people between 3 January and 11 March, while the US has conducted just 26 tests per million people”, stated by BBC News.

With this Virus running fast, there has been multiple things, either big or small, that countries have done to slow this virus down. Countries with more cases, such as China, have gone all the way to even shutting a whole city down and have restricted travel. While many other countries are shutting schools and facilities, the sales of necessities are going up, such as toilet paper and water bottles.  Many stores such as Costco have put limits on the amount of items each person can purchase.

This virus is said to keep spreading and spreading more and more. With the information provided it is important to take precautions and know the signs of this virus. Not only would it be important to know the signs but to be safe when traveling and performing everyday events.
