Faith Harvey is currently a Junior at Ripon High School and has been in the JROTC program all three years of high school, with many accomplishments to show for it. During her three years so far, she has made many admirable accomplishments to portray all of her hard work and dedication.

“I think my biggest accomplishment overall was receiving a scholarship and medal from the VFW last year. It was truly such an amazing experience and something that’s really gonna help me through college. Another big one was winning NCO of the year for my role as a first sergeant last year. I worked really hard and it was nice to be appreciated for my work,” stated Faith Harvey, Junior.

During Faith’s time involved with JROTC, it has taught her many crucial life lessons and values that are important to learn in life, which will also help her in college and further. Faith said that originally she joined JROTC in order to find an alternative to regular P.E, but when she learned more she found things that interested her and fell in love and knew she had to become a part of it.

“JROTC has taught me respect and I’ve learned how to be friends with someone and know when it’s appropriate to be their friend and when to regard them in a professional manner. I’ve honestly gotten yelled at or scolded by some of my good friends but it never affected our friendship because I knew it wasn’t personal. It also taught me a lot about leadership and how to be a good person,” stated Harvey.

This program has also taught her how to become a better, more independent person, which is something that everyone should try to improve on. Aside from learning important life skills and values, Faith said that she has also met some of her closest and most important people in her life.

“I’ve met so many people throughout my time in the program. JROTC truly is a huge family and some of my closest friends I met through it. As well as mentor relationships with upperclassmen when I was a Freshman, it’s good to have someone to look up to and it’s easy to find that person in JROTC because everyone is so welcoming and friendly,” stated Harvey.
