16 Hour Track Meet…
Finally spring! Finally track season. Most athletes look forward to track because of the various types of events such as the 100M, 300M, High Jump, Pole Vaulting, etc. Ripon High went to an invitational meet, The Andersen Classic. In Merced, California on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at Golden Valley High School. This meet was special because it was a whopping 16 hours long. This is the longest meet Ripon High has ever been to!

Another aspect of the very long meet was the planning. No one knew this meet was going to be so long. Gabby Delgado, who placed 1st in the Varsity Shot Put, said,
“I didn’t pack accordingly, I honestly just got my stuff and went out of the house. It was so cold on the bus ride there so I wish I could have brought my blanket.”
Gabby said she was very proud when she placed first, and she is excited for the rest of the season and can’t wait to progress.
Devin Fitzpatrick, who runs the 4×1, 400M and the 4×4 says that he is really looking forward to this season because of how well the team did overall at their first invitational. He also states that the meet was really worth it even if he only got 1 medal. He is very proud of his team.
