On August 29th, 2014 Ripon Highs football teams versed Sierra. The first games of the season took place on Ripon Highs new football and track field. Junior varsity’s game started at 5:30 p.m. and they won 55 to 0. Varsity’s game started at 7:30 p.m. and they lost 7 to 54.
I spoke to Mr. Velasco, one of Ripon High’s football coaches and he says, “What the other coaches and I are doing to get passed last Friday’s game is to practice more and try to play the game with out thinking to hard. We are trying to improve on the mistakes we shouldn’t have made, preparing for the boys games this Friday’s. We are practicing a lot but we are definitely having fun while doing it. For this Friday’s game my expectations’ are to be pretty well, it will defiantly be a good fight.”
I also spoke to Mr. Johnson, our head football coach, he says, “We are keeping our heads high. Were not going to cry about it, but we are going to keep practicing and we are going to get passed this. We only have one place to go…and that is up.”
We are all looking at last Fridays game and a reminder that we can always improve and get better. Hope to see everyone at the football game this Friday, September 5, 2014!
