    Soccer Moves to Winter

Soccer is one of world’s most popular sports and was moved to winter for the 2016-2017 season. After previously being played in the fall  for boys and spring for girls, the California Interscholastic Federation has decided it will be a better option to play the sport in the winter. Adrian Sanchez said “I think this change is going to help our team for the better.  It much cooler this time of year which helps us out.”  This change will mix well with Ripon’s weather, which is cool but not freezing during the winter months. Also, more people have the opportunity to take part in the fun.

The people that played soccer in the fall and spring had plenty of options to choose from. The boys had the choice of cross country or football, which is one of the most popular sports on campus. Manuel Ponce said “ This gives people a chance the haven’t got to play because of fall sports a chance.”  The girl’s had the choice between track and field, softball, and tennis. Changing the seasons of soccer allows more people to try out for the team, and help the program reach the top.

The boy’s conditioning starts Monday, October 24 while the girl’s conditioning has already taken place. The Ripon High Soccer teams will be preparing for a great season with the goal in mind to win. WIth the players they have got and the advantage of the cool air we got a shot.images
