    March Madness

It’s that time of year again where our favorite college basketball teams compete to be the best of them all, it’s March Madness.  Selection Sunday is upon us and we now know the final 68 teams that are going to be in the mix.

The predicted top contenders for this year include Villanova Wildcats , last year’s champions, as well as Kansas Jayhawks, North Carolina Tarheels, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and UCLA Bruins.  Even though those teams are the favored in this tournament anyone can win.  Ripon High School student Daniel Drake said  “This tournament with every great college team coming together in entertaining games making this a must watch event ”

The other side to March Madness is the fun of filling out your bracket.  This involves getting a pool going with friends or family for a friendly wager, and it makes March Madness twice as exciting.  There is a billion dollar prize for guessing all 63 games correctly, but don’t get your hopes up.  There is a 1 in nine quintillion chance that you are going to win.

I’ve talked about the favorites, now what about the underdogs.  One team to look out for is the USC Trojans.  The Trojans can be an amazing team at times, but also an awful team.  If come out with the right chemistry they could go far in the tournament.  Also keep an eye on Rhode Island, Middle Tennessee State, and Wichita State.

March Madness kicks off March 14th and we will see if our brackets are the one in a million or should I say one in nine quintillion.
