    Is It Really Worth It?

Many people invest their money into buying beauty products. In recent years new inventions have come about to make things more long-lasting. There are now eyelash extensions, microblading, and even eyebrow wigs but are products like these really worth the price over our regular beauty products?

Eyelash extensions have become the new fake eyelashes. There are three types of eyelash extensions; synthetic, silk and mink, ranging in sizes 6mm to 17mm. Once you have selected what you want, the specialist will place the lashes one at a time with a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that is not irritable to your eyes. All this sounds interesting and looks like something you might want to do to get natural looking longer eyelashes but you haven’t heard the cost. Some extensions cost from $70 to almost $300, if not more at certain places. Is it really worth that amount of money to have to keep paying every six to eight weeks when you have to refill them again? Don’t you think it’s better to just spend at least four dollars on a mascara? Or at least $15 on fake eyelashes?

Microblading is like a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is injected into your skin with a handheld tool. This ink helps darken and perfectly shape your brows so you don’t have to fill them in every morning. Filling in your eyebrows every morning soon gets very annoying so who wouldn’t want to get there brows microbladed? I know I would do it if I had $700-$800 just lying around. Yeah, that’s right, $700-$800 for perfect eyebrows! No matter how annoying it is having to fill in your eyebrows every morning, I know I would much rather spend $18 on my Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade that lasts at least 6-8 months, then $700-$800 on microblading that you have to redo every 1-3 years.

Now, let’s do some statistics to see if it is really worth it. For eyelash extensions, the cheapest price, I found, is $70 and you have to refill them every six to eight weeks. Let’s assume you refill them on the eighth week every time. Eight weeks is about two months, there are 12 months in a year, 12 divided by two is six. So, $70 x six appointments = 420. That means you will end up spending at least $420 a year for your extensions. Now, let’s do it for mascara. One of the cheapest mascara I know of is by Elf and is only two dollars. Mascara is said to last about three months. 12 divided three = four. This means you only have to buy a new mascara four times throughout the year. Four x two is only eight. You will only end up spending at least eight dollars using mascara over $420 on extensions. The price of mascara does of course vary, but will still end up being cheaper.

Now for microblading. For one appointment, the cheapest price is about $700. If you only want it for the minimum year you’ll only end up paying $700 for one year, $1,400 for two years, and $2,100 for three years. If you were to just use the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade, which is only $18 and last up to six to 12 months depending on how frequently you use it, you only have to spend $18 to $36 a year, compared to $700 a year.

So now you tell me, is it really worth it to spend that much money a year just for more “permanent” looking makeup?
