Not MINEcraft

Minecraft has been an monumental stepping stone in the gaming community now for 10 years. And as the years progressed, its library of various blocks has increased immensely. And there are a few updates that have changed the way the game has been perceived. But not as much as the new update has changed everything!

The newest update for the game, 1.10.0, introduced not only new blocks. But also retextured blocks that haven’t been changed since the almost the beginning of the game. Especially the many blocks that are in the caves such as stone, granite, andesite, and cobblestone. Which is jarring for a person who has played the game for many years.

Sure it blends better with the palette of the many blocks that are in the Minecraft inventory. And sure it looks a bit more realistic. But it’s not, Minecraft anymore. But rather Minecraft with a bad texture pack.

But the retexturing of the blocks wasn’t the only addition to the new update. The new designing of the villages based upon the different biomes is very clever. Along with the new Wandering Trader. Which are randomly generated. The new weaponry that was released was also a good expansion. Especially the crossbow.

In conclusion, even though Minecraft adds jarring new textures to the blocks that have been in the game since the beginning, it still knows how to make an entertaining game about mining and crafting.
