Zoom: Safely Socializing
The last few months have been chaotic for everyone. It has been hard for friends, families, and other people because they haven’t been able to go outside and interact with people. The lockdowns placed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus have shut down schools, businesses, and other meeting places. This has caused them to look at alternative ways to continue work from home, like using Zoom Video Communications. The app has provided another way that schools, businesses, and families can efficiently communicate.
The app is a cloud-based service that allows people to meet with others. One app user can hold a conference, which can allow multiple people to attend a meeting and they have several features including screen sharing with the attendees. Users have the option to turn off their audio, video, and even chat with people in the meeting. It is similar to Cisco Webex, Skype, or Facetime, but each one has distinct features and plans compared to the other.
For the past few months, schools and universities have used the app so teachers can continue teaching students for the rest of the school year. It is quite helpful but when there is a low internet connection, it starts to lag or freeze. Zoom has also been great for families, who usually got together for birthdays or holidays, but weren’t able to recently. One person can host the meeting and the whole family could join and celebrate through their devices.
Zoom has also been used to provide entertainment to people. Hamilton Original Broadway’s cast also recorded their performance together on the app and later shared it with the public on YouTube. It has become a common app that people around the world have been using to stay connected. If anyone wants to have a get-together online, Zoom is a great app to use.
