This past Saturday, May 5th, Ripon High held its first annual Ervin Zador Memorial Invitational at the Ervin Zador Aquatic Center. Coach Erik Zador was pleased to have Sierra HS, Atwater HS, East Union HS, and Tracy HS’s attendance.
At the meet this weekend our girls took 1st and our boys tied for 2ndrd. Congratulations to all who took first and are now our record holders, and thank you to the Ripon Aquatic Boosters for their generosity donating the awards.
“It was so great to see all of the coaches and swimmers from the other teams who came and supported us and helped us keep Ervin’s legacy alive,” said swimmer Kyra Foley.
Ervin Zador was an Olympic gold medal water polo player, and also founded Ripon Aquatics. Ervin was known for his since of humor and excellent coaching skills. Khiara Cardoza remembers the last thing Ervin said to her before he died, “You swim like my grandmother!”
It was great to see everybody come support Ripon High Swim Team and help keep Ervin’s legacy alive! See you next year!
