Week one had many exciting games for all football fans with many dying to watch their team play since early 2023. The NFL season began with an upset win for the Detroit Lions against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Lions quarterback, Jared Goff, had thrown for 22 completions out of 35 attempts and one touchdown pass. Meanwhile, down in Kansas with last years Super Bowl winner, Patrick Mahomes, throwing for 21 completions out of the 39 failed attempts and two touchdown passes, and one pick six. The Detroit Lions took the win at foot by scoring a touchdown near the end of the fourth quarter. That was only the beginning of the NFL week.

The next exciting game on the list of the NFL season was the Miami Dolphins vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. Dolphins QB, Tua Tagovailoa, had completed 28 out of 45 pass attempts for 466 yards, three touchdowns and only one interception. Tua and his speedy receiver Tyreek Hill, who had 11 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns, helped them to their amazing performance. Meanwhile the Chargers put up a good effort trying to take the win. Quarterback Justin Herbert, who threw for 23 completions out of 33 pass attempts, and running back Austin Ekeler, who ran for 117 yards and one touchdown helped the Chargers through the entire game. Both teams were having back-to-back scoring drives, but in the end the Dolphins were on top with the win.

To end week one for the NFL, Aaron Rodgers led the Jets against Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills. The New York Jets fan base was ready to start a brand new season with future hall of famer Aaron Rodgers (for about 45 seconds), when after the fourth play of the game he suffered a season-ending injury from a torn Achilles. However, with the great efforts from star wide receiver Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets defense, they were able to pull away with the win. Some players didn’t have a fairy tale ending to their night, though. Buffalo Bills Quarterback, Josh Allen, had completed 29 passes out of 43 pass attempts. He threw three interceptions and had two fumbles.

On the Rodgers injury, freshman Gavin Decena says, “Prayers up to Aaron Rodgers. I feel bad for him, but he should have stayed on the Packers.”

Some of the other games had toss and turns everywhere during the first week: 49ers and Steelers ended with the Niners on top 30-7. Brock Purdy completed 19 passes out of the 29 attempted and went for 220 yds with two touchdowns. In the Las Vegas Raiders narrow 17-16 win against the Broncos, Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 20 out of 26 pass attempts with two touchdowns and one interception. Finally, the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears with a score of 38-20. The Packers QB Jordan Love had 15 completed passes out of 27 attempts for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

The NFL had many storylines to follow and many things to be excited about as the season continues.
