Homecoming week is filled with many exciting events, and moments, such as announcing the homecoming court and participating in powder puff. One of the most memorable moments for every Homecoming is announcing who the Grand Marshal of Ripon High is. This year’s Grand Marshal is our phenomenal AP Literature and Futuristic Fiction teachers, Mrs. Burton. 

“It was an honor,” exclaims Burton. “I was completely surprised and I had no idea that I would be selected and it was far more of a fun week than I ever expected it to be.”

Burton has been a teacher for over 37 years and has enjoyed her job here for the students that RHS holds because they’ve never changed over the years she’s been here. Everything about the students has always brought her memorable memories. During her free time, she loves to watch movies, go to sporting events with her husband, and drink coffee on her porch with her friends. 

Burton’s lasting thoughts on the overall week were, “It was a blast. The court was a group of really nice people and the parade was really hot, but it was good energy.”

Burton is an amazing teacher on campus and we look forward to spending more years with her!
