On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Mr. Chad Poole took his sports medicine 2 class on a day-long trip to the University of the Pacific to take a look at the medical classes, equipment, and hear from many professors.
The students toured the campus and learned more about athletic training. They got to look at motion tracking equipment and stretching machines. Senior Levi Lundrigan was allowed to participate in a VO2 Max test where he ran on a treadmill and had equipment hooked up to his face. It’s called a Bruce protocol. This was to measure his heart rate, oxygen uptake, and overall determines aerobic endurance.
Lundrigan states, “It’s important to go on trips like this because we get to learn what kind of college we want to go to.”
Junior Danika Escola enjoyed listening to the professors and hearing their experiences. “I’d love to go on a trip like this again to see other college facilities and meet more professors.”
The trip was a good experience for all the students. “[The trip] was really fun and I, after going to UOP, want to attend that college,” says Lundrigan.
