Varsity boys basketball recently began their pre-season games against the many schools in the area. On Dec. 5, the boys went up against Golden Valley in a tough game. After the first two quarters, the teams were neck and neck at 24 to 28. They came back strong after halftime and put up a tough fight. Unfortunately, the Ripon Indians came up short with a score of 34 to 55.
Junior Marcus Madoski, one of the many talented players on the team, made multiple lay-ups throughout the game. He explained, “[Our team] didn’t do terribly [with] defense on the court and we were rebounding. The only issue was scoring.”
The next day on Dec. 6, the boys competed against Sierra High and came back stronger and more determined. By halftime, the scores were 15 to 25. Then, as the game came to a close, the scores were 43 to 51.
Landon Gillespie, a skilled senior basketball player, explained, “We’re playing really good. We’re six and [three] now. We lost to [a few] teams that we shouldn’t have lost to, but I think we’re going to be really good, it just depends if we come out with energy or not.”
Boys basketball may have a rocky start, but we can’t wait to see their progression throughout the season!
