On February 7th, ASB held their annual speeches and elections. These elections are important to not only ASB, but also to every student at Ripon High because they determine who will be leading ASB in the upcoming school year.
There were five positions available to any student willing to run: President, Vice President, Administration, School Board Member, and Rally Commissioner. In order to get one of these important positions, any students interested had to present a speech to the school explaining why they should be elected. In addition to this, students also had the opportunity to create a campaign. When someone running creates a campaign, that usually means they make posters to put around the school in hopes of convincing people to vote for them.
This year, there were a total of eight people who went out for a position on ASB. Juniors Ximena Del Toro and Sofia Grewal competed for President, junior Elias Ramirez ran for Vice President, junior Gia Grewal ran for Administration, junior Isaiah Green ran for School Board Member, and junior, Skylar Pimentel competed against junior Ricky Lagenfeld and freshman Justin Saltsman for Rally Commissioner. The results of the election will be revealed soon, so good luck to everyone who ran!
