Election+Day+at+Ripon+High%21

The Ripon High class elections were held on Wednesday, Feb. 15th, with the freshman elections taking place in the South Gym and the sophomore and junior elections in the North Gym. The candidates were introduced by Senior, Jenna Skavdahl, with inspiring speeches given by Veer Dhaliwal, Hailey Kuennen, and Colt Isham, who were running for president. Aiyana Danae Pamplona and Isabella Del Toro, the vice president candidates, also gave their speeches with confidence and enthusiasm. Armaan Goraya then ran for admin.

When asked about her experience, Pamplona shared, “Although I felt nervous about public speaking and addressing my classmates, I was relieved to find that everyone else was feeling the same pre-speech jitters.”

The freshman candidates initially displayed some nervousness, but once they overcame their jitters, they flourished and spoke with confidence.

According to Isham, “My primary objective is to represent students who may not have a platform to voice their opinions. By addressing their concerns and highlighting positive aspects, he hopes to foster a more optimistic school culture.”

After attentively listening to the freshman’s speeches, it became clear that each student shared a common objective of improving the school’s culture. The speeches emphasized the importance of creating a comfortable and confident environment for every student.

Meanwhile, in the North Gym, the Sophomore and Junior elections were underway. Senior student, Payton Millerkay, introduced the candidates for their speeches. Senior president and vice president positions were being sought by Claire Morris and Eric Guevara, respectively, while Mina Armanious ran for Senior Publicity Officer. Emme Wilber was running for Junior president, with Mia Duarte as Junior Vice President and Armin Grewal as Junior admin. Finally, Gilliean Coro and Kiely Mundy were both vying for the Junior class publicity position.

Overall the speeches went great and Ripon High will be left in good hands no matter what the election results hold!
