RHS Boys and Girls Basketball Season Recap

RHS+Boys+and+Girls+Basketball+Season+Recap

As the basketball season comes to an end, there is time to reflect on how the season went. For the RHS varsity boys basketball team, they have a lot to be proud of as they had a winning record of 23-8 during the season, and won two playoff games against Ben Holt Academy and Escalon. They unfortunately ended their season with a 60-58 loss against Palo Alto two weeks later. Meanwhile the RHS girls had their ups and downs throughout the year, as they went 8-18. For the underclassmen teams, the JV girls had gone 18-7 on the season with a 10-1 record in their league, while the JV boys had gone 17-11 and a 10-2 record in their league. Though they had different records, they both went out giving it their all.

The boys basketball team was led by their defense to a winning record and multiple playoff games. The defense almost always played consistent, well-thought out basketball, as they rarely gave up more than 50 points in a game. Meanwhile the RHS girls struggled with communication and found it hard to work together at times, but they always would come together and put in full effort.

Senior guard, Faith Yuen stated, “I think the season was a lot of learning, especially for the underclassmen that were on the team.”

“This year I think with a new coach we had to learn a lot of new things,” senior guard, Bradley Reedy, stated. “A lot of us grew from last year, just getting better individually, and I think all of that [had] helped [this season].”

The season was very different for each RHS team, however they all have one thing in common. They all cemented their place in RHS history, with all of their hardwork and determination.
