In December our Ripon High Cheerleaders went to Tracy for a cheer competition. There they placed second and got accepted to go to Nationals in LA the last weekend of March. Friday, March 28th was the big day. They competed against 21 other cheer squads. They then placed second with only a half of a point difference between first place. Meaning, they got to move on to the second round on Sunday March 30th. Finally three months of hard practice paid off.
On Sunday they went up against 8 other squads. There are two parts to a performance; the cheer, then the dance. In the cheer a stunt fell, but they got right back up and didn’t give up. In the dance, in the stunting section another stunt wobbled and came down; but the stunt group did not give up and they got right back up and continued on in sync with everybody else! Since they messed up they ended up getting 5th place rather than second again. But its ok they’re still proud of themselves to have even gotten that far (the furthest our cheer squad has ever gotten) and they came home with a big trophy! Our cheerleaders did great and the best they could and I think that’s a good enough reason to be proud of them.
