Each month, Ripon High School’s Associated Student Body (ASB) picks scholars to elect as student of the month whom strive for excellence and go above and beyond when it comes to their academics, involvement in the community, and their positive attitude. For March, ASB has elected freshmen Alayna Sprinkle and Chris Armanious as their students of the month.
For both students, their first year of highschool has been all about learning to manage schoolwork with their social lives and extracurriculars, which can be a difficult learning curve. Sprinkle, a passionate volleyball player, says that balancing her responsibilities are difficult, but she’s learned how to over time. “Usually I’ll try and get my homework done before practice, have practice, and then do anything I have left,” Sprinkle states. Additionally, she goes on to say, “It’s a lot of late nights and early mornings, but that’s fine.”
Part of these student’s motivation could possibly be their accomplishments and achievements they attain throughout the school year. Armanious, a dedicated soccer player, states, “Im proud of getting far with our high school soccer team here at Ripon High School. I think we got pretty far, and that was a pretty fun time.”
High school can be hard for many of us, whether it’s keeping up with grades, staying out of trouble, or trying to find friends, but these kind-hearted students want you to know that it won’t be difficult forever. “It’ll get better, nothing permanent. There’s always going to be something ahead of you,” Armanious shares. “Just keep trying to maintain focus, and just have a goal. And once you reach that goal, set another one,” Sprinkle adds.
