The energy was high as soon as the bus pulled away from Ripon Elementary and headed towards the highly anticipated location; 6th grade science camp. Ripon and Weston Elementary attended a three day camp in freezing temperatures. With snow falling and the wind blowing, kids from both schools filed out of the buses to get snow gear. Everyone knew at that moment that the trip would be cold, but fun.
Each cabin was connected to another, giving the students the ability to talk to each other, even if they weren’t in the same cabin. Late nights were filled with songs, smores, and smiles.
Students were taught many valuable lessons during the trip, such as how to keep yourself warm when out in the snow. Groups experimented with their own makeshift snow shelters to discover if they were properly made.
Though the cabin leaders were tired, everyone felt rejuvenated and proud of their new discoveries. Science camp was a blast for everyone who went and will be a memory for a lifetime!
