On Friday, March 15, the Ripon High swim team demonstrated an impressive performance in their dual meet against Sierra High. Valeria Chun, a junior with nine years of swimming experience, has been a dedicated member of both the Ripon High swim team and the Ripon Aquatics Club program.
Chun exclaimed, “I swam the 200 IM and 500 free. Unfortunately, I didn’t improve my times, but I’m right where I should be at this time in the season. I’m satisfied and excited to keep improving and getting better for sections!”
Chun’s overall goal is to make sections and perform well, while also being a great teammate and motivation for the other swimmers. Chun states, “I try to calm myself down and not overthink before my races. I’ll talk to my friends or listen to music to distract myself from all the pressure, to make sure I will do the best I can.”
The Ripon High swim team is composed of exceptional swimmers who are diligently striving for a successful season and a coveted spot in sections. Be sure not to overlook the upcoming home meet on Thursday, March 28th, as your swimmers showcase their skills against East Union!
