Mistlin Park in Ripon California hosted multiple teams in games against one another. However, one game stood out particularly; the Ripon High’s Varsity baseball team against Riverbank. The game took place at 4:00 pm on March 26, and lasted around 2 hours. The home team, being Ripon High, was out on the field first while Riverbank took their place batting at homebase. The game started off slow, but as it continued more and more people flooded the bleachers and the crowds grew loud. Many people in the stands along with fellow teammates on each side could feel the tension grow. The crowds grew louder as the game progressed, but Ripon High’s Varsity team had the lead most of the game and the tension died down, resulting in a blowout. The game ended and Ripon coming out victorious, with a score of 15-2.
With this win, the RHS baseball team added to their three straight wins. Of course with all games, the varsity team had their fair share of conflicts both internally and on the outside. Some players say they felt they could do better and that the team could have improved in many aspects. While batting was their strongest position throughout the game, many of the players had a difficult time pitching. Many of the players grew frustrated in their abilities, resulting in the tension at the very start of the game.
Alex Rodriguez, a junior at Ripon high says that, “We’re a really good team, we’re a bunch of really talented players. I think we could definitely improve on being less selfish, but we’re pretty much a family. We all have eachother’s back, and no matter what, we’re always going to cheer each other on the next day.”
Overall, the Varsity baseball team did a phenomenal job and hopefully will continue to do so as the season progresses. The Ripon High baseball players are passionate and ready to keep going, so let’s cheer them on in their next game.
