A game of football takes teamwork, there is no “I” in team. The Freshman Indian’s teamwork has led them to another victory against the East Union Lancers; with the final score being 42-12.
The team continues to show extravagant plays and they are slowly building an “undefeated” title. During the recent game against the Lancers, they started off a little rocky. The Lancers scored on them during the first 10 minutes of the game. Although it shook the Ripon Indians, they pursued the win at the end. With freshman Chris Alfaro, making the first down and securing the 2 point conversion.
After this touchdown, the Indians were able to keep the lead throughout the entire game. It was very suspenseful because the Indians were intimidated from the beginning. However when the team gets on a roll, they don’t stop. Freshman Kalvin Martin, the team’s receiver and kicker, says “it’s really cool to see our team go from zero to hero.” It was very impressive to see, and it did not go unrecognized.
Most players would’ve beat themselves down after the first few plays, however this team won’t allow it, and the energy kept on! Freshman Ryan Sousa, middle linebacker and guard for the team, states “This is a team game… the success of my teammates depends on me.” This statement reflects on the entire team, because it is super visible on the current season.
All support and motivation led to Freshman Liam Kerr, the team’s tight end, defensive end and also the team’s captain! When Sousa and Martin were asked why they think the team works so well together, they both mentioned that their captain and teammate, Kerr, keeps them inspired to give it their all. “Something that really motivates me is when a player that doesn’t really get recognition or playing time finally gets their big hit.” With this environment, the team can continue to achieve great things. It is remarkable to see that this team’s atmosphere is like no other, it is truly uplifting.
Way to go Freshmen!
