On Thursday, Sep. 5, the Ripon High flag football team participated in their final preseason game. Flag football is the newest sport at Ripon High School and everyone is curious to see how the season will go. As the varsity team begins their season next week against Riverbank we hope to see the team succeed.
The Lady Indians most recently played against El Capitan and it was an unfortunate loss for the varsity team. With multiple injuries and a struggle getting down the field the final score came to 54-6. Leila Sanchez, the starting quarterback for varsity, has some thoughts on the game,” I think that we need to improve on our defense. We let too many touchdowns get scored and the main reason for that is our defense.” The Lady Indians seem determined to improve and hopefully their hard work will show in the next coming weeks.
The team seems eager to get back on the field and show that they are, in fact, capable of making adjustments and improving. We hope that everyone will come out and support the girls flag football team as they begin their inaugural season next week. The Lady Indians are a hard working team who are determined to prove that they can become a winning team.
