Cross country is fresh in season and now the athletes can show off their skills. Isaiah Green is a Senior at Ripon High School, and a star on the trail. Green has been running cross country for two years now and he has shown to be an excellent athlete and role model for the younger runners. As Green continues into his senior year he has many aspirations he hopes to accomplish.
At the start of his running career, Green first started running track and slowly was pushed into distance especially with the influence of his friends. He had wanted to start getting into distance with track, and felt that the first step to that would be an all long distance sport. This is a very big move and a very big part of the runner he is today. All these choices, switching from sprints to distance running is very drastic and now leads to where Green is today.
A lot deeper into any kind of sport is the relationship you create with the team. Green says that his favorite part about cross country is “the memories that I make with my teammates and the bonding activities that we do” and of course that is important to have because it can really impact an athlete. It is a very prominent thing that most athletes do not seem to have. It’s also a significant part of why Green continues to run.
For the future of Green’s running career, he hopes to be exceptional enough to get an offer for college. However his main goal is to attend San Diego State. “If I have the opportunity to run in college I will take it,” says Green. His biggest motivation and role model to continue running is previous RHS runner, Devin Fitzpatrick. The support that they still hold for each other is very strong.
The Ripon High Community knows that there is a lot of running potential at our school. All these runners put in plenty of work and hours into practices and meets. Green is a runner that truly stands out and his efforts and hardwork do not go unnoticed.
Keep going Green!
