The Girls Varsity Flag Football team had another game of their season against Riverbank. The game was full of strategic plays and intense focus from the players. Although it was a hard fought game, the final score was 6-12 with Riverbank taking the win.
The Girls Flag Football program is brand new to Ripon High School. The sport was just introduced to students this year and is a great success!
The team may agree that they have had better moments, but games like these can be used to reflect on and figure out how to improve. Their quarterback for the game, senior, Tatiana Perez, said, “The team did okay today, especially defense is stepping it up. I think as a team we could improve on our communication, not getting down on ourselves, and overall staying positive throughout the game even if we are struggling.”
Since only the Varsity Girls were able to play against Riverbank, some JV girls were given the opportunity to move up for the match. One of these girls being, defensive player, freshman, Mia Hendryx. When asked about the game Hendryx stated, ”I think I did pretty good for my first time playing on varsity. I also usually play on offense, but today I played on defense and did great as well. If I keep improving my skill and growing my interest I will definitely play for the rest of my highschool years.”
These girls are constantly developing and improving new skills. This loss will not define who they are as a team, but will help them to achieve greatness further in their season.
