With a new school year comes new classroom activities. At Ripon High we have a very interesting Agriculture program that many students are a part of. FFA holds a lot of fun in-school and outside of school activities that keep the students actively engaged. There is truly something for everyone to participate in, the program ranges from small engines to welding to even food sciences.
Ms.Hyatt teaches food science and is one of our many agricultural teachers. Hyatt’s Introduction to Food and Agriculture science class is currently working on opening and closing scripts for their class competition. Essentially an opening and closing scriptis used when the monthly FFA meetings are held. The objective of this activity is to help students with public speaking and it is important to know how to properly hold an FFA meeting.
On Tuesday, Sep. 17, the students recorded themselves so they could evaluate based on their competition rubric.
Many of the groups in Ms.Hyatt’s fifth period Introduction to Food and Agriculture class have been putting this presentation together. One group inputs, “I feel like my group is doing good, we just need to really memorize these lines more” says Avaline Haas. It is very fascinating to see all the students and groups come together and put in their lines and best efforts to complete this assignment.
Besides this assignment another thing going on in Hyatt’s classroom is her chick daycare! Hyatt’s classroom houses Ripon High’s baby chicks. The students in her first period class are incharge of cleaning and keeping up with the chicks. It’s a very cute scene.
FFA is a very big association and these small activities are what keeps kids at RHS on the pathway!
