The sun begins to set, decorations placed around the amphitheater, and the lights turn on. On the night of Sep. 16, the first night rally of the 2024-2025 school year has finally arrived! All of the grades crowd in their sections, getting ready for a night full of fun. The night started off with the annual lip-sync battle between the grades, and this year it was a great one!
The lip-sync battle started off with the freshmen performing a dance with a theme of Beauty and the Beast! They had an awesome performance with high energy. The freshman group practiced for about a week and a half, but Mia Hinrichsen, the group’s Belle, wishes they could’ve had more time to practice so they could perfect it. Even though the group didn’t have the largest group, they used what they had to execute an amazing dance!
Hinrichsen states, “The whole thing was really fun. I think it was a great way for everyone to come together and all be creative.”
Next, the sophomores took the stage with the theme Alice in Wonderland! They had a decently large group and performed a fun-filled dance to a variety of songs. The group’s White Rabbit, Aiyana Pamplona, was front and center most of the dance along with the other main dancers. The group practiced for over a week for hours outside of school and they got a lot done. They performed with high energy and executed their ideas perfectly!
Pamplona explains, “Performing the dance was slightly stressful, but I think we did really well considering the time crunch when learning it.”
On to the juniors! The juniors were given the theme of Cinderella and performed amazingly! It was a large group, but they used numbers to their advantage. Between spinning in sync, to passing the brooms to their fellow dancers, the juniors definitely had a performance worth watching. The dance was incredibly in-sync and choreographed extremely well! They practiced for about a week, and the practice definitely paid off.
“I was really proud of everybody and how well it came together!” Downs explains. Due to their hard work, the juniors were able to execute a dance that everyone in the crowd was able to enjoy!
Finally, our lip-sync winners, the seniors! The seniors were given the theme of Tangled! The seniors had two dances. The homecoming court dance, and then the main dance that included the whole grade. The homecoming court dance included the entire court, including the grand marshal, Erin Paris! The main dance was also quite entertaining, with the girls dressed in gorgeous white dresses and flower crowns, and the guys also dressed in white! The group’s Rapunzel, Abigail Hendley, was one of three choreographers, along with Gabriela Calderara, and Gia Grewal!
Hendley says, “I think we all did really well as a group and performing it was also really fun.”
The night rally is one of the many ways to get involved at RHS and create many memories with your peers. All four grades had amazing performances, and their effort and high energy was greatly appreciated by the crowd. Way to go RHS!
