Ripon High School has switched apps from SuperFan to 5-Star Students app, which affects how students check into events because of the way 5-Star Students is set up. These platforms are more than just tools, these apps help students lift school spirit, track attendance, and sometimes even more student participation, making it easier for students to stay connected and involved with our school. As technology becomes more of an important part of these student’s education, these apps show Ripon High’s commitment to having an interactive school experience that connects students while they are on their cellular devices.
This year, Ripon High School students were surprised to learn that they would be transitioning from the iconic SuperFan app, where students would check into events and earn points, to a new platform called 5-Star Students. 5-star is a new and improved app with a lot of options. Each student has their school ID when they add it to their account. Just like SuperFan, on 5-Star you can still check into events and claim rewards. On the app, you also have access to hall passes, activities, and surveys. For hall passes, all a student has to do is grab their phone, open the app, and scan a code which is most likely in every classroom. Once they scan the code, a timer will pop up and that is how much time the student has to use the restroom, etc.
Our most recent winner, Chloe Laughtenslager was asked about the switch from SuperFan to the 5-Star Students app. Chloe was the leading student in check-ins on SuperFan and had the most points on the old app. Laughtenslager was asked about how the new 5-Star Students app compares to the SuperFans app in terms of functionality and she said, “I liked with SuperFan you could just click the event and check in where on 5-Star there is a separate page to check in.”
With the app change, comes new beginnings. SuperFan will always be remembered at Ripon High School for its long tenure as the app where only you can win if you check-in.
