Fall sports are kicking off their season with their RHS spirit! Our fall sports have recently began their seasons. On Thurs., Sept. 19, our girls volleyball, football, cheer, cross country, girls golf, and e-sports had the opportunity to showcase their sport to their peers. This rally was held in the North Gym and team captains from all sports were able to walk on a red carpet and show off what sport they do.
This is the first year that leadership has hosted a sports rally. The rally went well and all captains got a chance to walk out alongside each other to a song.
The most exciting walk out seemed to be e-sports. Senior Teo West, a part of the boys water polo team, says, “I was not expecting them to smash a keyboard.”
During the E-Sports team captain walk, one of the captains dramatically smashed a keyboard. When asked who had the creative idea of smashing a keyboard, senior Thomas Meyers, part of the e-sport team, said “Mr. Yonan had the idea at first…I think it went well.”
After this dramatic entrance, seniors Sienna Pimentel, Brett Shaw, and Meyers, Brandon Mulkey, participated in a friendly game of Smash Bros. The objective of the game was to be the last one still alive. It was very stressful for both the players and the students. It created much suspense in the atmosphere. The game went on for a while. However, the final score showed that Meyers won the game.
The students were all showing their support and cooperated really well as all the students walked down the carpet. This might become a yearly event, as it helps students reconginize and showcases all the opportunities for sports here at RHS!
