Students all about science have banded together to form a team to compete in what is known as the Science Olympiad. Academic Decathlon advisor Christopher Brown is advising the academic team under Ripon High’s Academic Decathlon, but the real founders of the team are seniors Giolanna Loretelli and Silas Morris. Science Olympiad is a team made up of students that will compete in three to four science-related events of their choosing. In addition, the students have to study their topic all the way up until it is time to compete in March of 2025.
The events of each student haven’t been finalized yet. Although, Loretelli has some set in mind, alongside Morris as well. They’re currently studying for entomology and material science.
This is the first year Science Olympiad team will be present at Ripon High. “I’m really excited that we’ve got another team in the competitive academics club because last year, we had an Academics Decathlon team and that was our first year,” exclaims Loretelli. “It was a great experience [and] a great group of people.”
We can’t wait to see the outcome of the Science Olympiad team!
