On Fri. Sept 27th, the Girls League club at RHS hosted their new yearly tradition, the lemonade stand. This year’s focus of the fundraiser was to raise money for local children in Ripon with cancer & their families.
The students who were in charge of the stand hold the philanthropy positions in the Girls League club, Sophie Cockriel and Madeline Curtiss. Girls League solely sponsors the fundraiser but all of the money received goes back to the recipients. The club reached out to specific families within Ripon who experience childhood cancer.
The advisor of Girls League, Laura Ochoa says, “Our online fundraiser could’ve been better, but the physical one on campus was really good. We raised $160 in just one lunch period, which was mostly donated by the student body.”
A few staff members also donated which was Sylvia Ochoa, Ann Pendleton, and Natalie Gillihan. Overall this Girls League fundraiser was a success and this club really spreads awareness throughout our whole community.
