On Tues. Oct. 8th the Girls League big sisters came together in Mrs. Ochoa’s room to put together some things for their sister to reveal! Big sisters purchased two pairs of matching socks, one for their little sister and one for themselves, and packaged them to give to their little sisters. Mostly juniors and seniors came together and decorated bags with markers and also made a poster for their little sister. One of the matching socks went in the bag and they were stored for the next day.
Senior Natalie Vu, a big sister in the club says, “It was a fun get-together and it made me excited to meet my little sister. I hope we create a strong bond and get more involved together.”
Following on Weds. Oct. 9th, the GL club revealed their sisters for the year. The whole club came together at the RHS amphitheater and prepared to reveal. The decorated bags were laid out for the freshman and sophomores to find their names and see their socks. The big sisters stood on top of the amphitheater with their matching socks and posters with their sister’s name on it. They waited for their little sister to come and find them. As people were paired up there were lots of smiles and laughs. The pairs then went to take a picture with each other to be posted to the GL instagram. This club is solely about sisterhood and kindness and all the girls were super excited to find out their sister for the 24-25 school year.
Publicity officer Camden Downs says, “The club is a great way to get involved and get closer with the girls in our school. As well as getting more involved in our community.”
Overall finding out sisters is a big deal within the club, but this is the first year they have revealed with the socks. This event leads to all the events that follow for the rest of the year. The next event that happens for Girls League is the pink out dress up days (Oct. 14-18), a schoolwide event supporting breast cancer so make sure you participate. If interested in the Girls League club and having a sister make sure you join next year!
