Monday, May 5, the Ripon beginning, concert, and high school band all performed at their end of the year day on the green concert that wraps up the year every year. For the first time, the high school band ran a fundraiser led by Laurie Bartlett, which had students of all ages selling dinner tickets for $10 a piece, and granted them a full meal and drink catered by Smokin’ Joe’s BBQ ™. Each meal included a large portion of scalloped potatoes, salad, a roll and tri-tip. In all, a whopping 350 tickets were sold creating a solid financial standing for next years band, and will help in the bands efforts to return to perform at Disneyland.
Starting with the beginning band, the high school band was of course the star with their complex music pieces put together in such a short period of time, sticking to a full of them of famous cartoon and movie music pieces, and a finale which included the concert and high school band performing “American Patrol.” In addition, the pieces placed by the high school band included Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Carribean, and Cartoon Mash-up. “They sounded great, especially with barely a month of practice,” said sophomore Hannah Welsh.
The food caused great excitement in its guests!
