Our RHS girls volleyball team has advanced into the playoffs! Their second play-off game occurred on Nov. 5 at Ripon High. Our girls beat them in the first set, 25-16, 25-10 and the last set 25-17. The whole team has been very successful this season because of a group commitment and amazing talent.
“It feels amazing to win every league game as it is our second year in a row,” says Amelia Lara. Ameila has been playing volleyball for 10 years and has been playing as a defensive specialist/libero for the RHS team. As a defensive player you have to be able to be on your toes and agile at all times for anything that comes your way. Lara does a great job at staying committed to the ball and always staying positive.
“I like to present myself to my teammates with positivity and to try to keep everyone motivated and just have fun with the game,” says Lara.
Not only does Lara like to be there for her teammates on the court, “Off the court I like to make sure everyone is doing well with their personal lives, and help them if they need it.”
Amelia’s favorite thing about this season has been the girls on the team and the strong bonds that were able to be built. She is proud of her team for putting in so much effort and winning every game this season in 3 sets, not 5. As it is Amelia’s last year at RHS, make sure to congratulate her if you see her around for her great accomplishments and contribution to the Ripon High volleyball team!
