Ripon High’s JROTC and Advanced Choir recently honored our veterans on Veterans Day during the 15th Annual Community Veterans Day Observance at the Veterans Wall and Museum. This is an annual event that welcomes the community to come together and honor the veterans for their service for America.
Ripon High’s JROTC Color Guard presented the colors and posted them as well, which is something they rarely do because posting the colors is reserved for only special occasions such as this. Senior Cadet Major Ella Parsons was Commander in leading the colors on this day. She explained that she felt prideful for representing the soldiers who have given their service to our nation.
Additionally, our choir began the ceremony by performing the Star-Spangled Banner. Soon after, the Armed Forces Salute was sung, which is a combination of the songs that associate with an Armed Force branch. This song gave veterans the opportunity to stand when they heard their song for the branch they served.
Senior Chetan Harvey is a part of the Advanced Choir and he was one of the many vocalists that honored the veterans. “I had a solemn feeling because it is a way for me to remember [those who served our country],” explains Harvey. “My great-grandfather served in the armed forces and it’s a way for me to remember him and all of his sacrifices.”
Thank you JROTC and Advanced Choir for helping us remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
