As January comes to an end, students from ASB are continuing their tradition of selecting students of the month. The two students picked for the month of January are Isaiah Green and Melanye Sanchez! 

Sanchez is a senior at Ripon High; when asked about how it felt to be a student of the month she stated, “I didn’t really expect it, it was kind of unexpected. I didn’t even really know how it worked. It’s an accomplishment, I’ve been working hard all 4 years of high school .”

Sanchez’s favorite club at Ripon High is the Estudiantes Unidos. She is very proud to be president and has always wanted to be in the club since her sister was in high school. Sanchez hopes to go to Modesto Junior College to complete her prerequisite courses and possibly transfer to a 4-year university to become a pediatric nurse!

Green is also a senior who is deeply involved with many clubs such as Scrubs Club, Multicultural Club, Asian Culture Club and Young Men’s Club. Out of all the clubs and sports he participates in, Green was most passionate about track and cross country.

“I’m most passionate about cross country and track. I lump them together because it’s all running for me. It’s probably what I spend the most time on.”

When asked about what inspires him to be a good student, Green had this to say, “I really try to be the best boy I can be, I don’t want to be naughty. But with that, there is some positive pressure from my parents because they make it known that I have a lot of opportunities and that it’s up to me to take advantage of them.”

Green aspires to become an airline pilot and hopes to go to UC Davis to pursue his dream!
