Mrs. Castle is one of our art teachers here at Ripon High! She teaches Art 1 and 2. During each semester, she has a variety of focuses where all students have a chance to better their skills and practice their artistic abilities.
Last semester, the students got to complete a variety of art projects using their skill of contrast. Using a lead wood pencil, the students navigated through shading and finding the perfect way to shade and contrast to add better definition to their art work. It helps them create realistic and very defined.
Recently, Castle’s class has begun a new unit using a quill and liquid ink. The class has been practicing with the quill to create another project later.
“I don’t think that people need to necessarily be good artists, I think that art can teach you a lot of other skills…problem solving abilities,” says Castle.
It is interesting to see the different types of art that are all created in her classroom and all of the types of levels that her students create art at.
