Mr. Smith has brought yet another engaging project to Ripon High’s Conceptual Physics class. For this new assignment and presentation, the students’ challenge is to create a model of an eco-friendly business that has a positive impact on the environment and uses at least 2 main energy sources. Each group had to make either a 3d physical structure, an online simulation, or a detailed drawing and later on had to be presented to the class.
The main focus of this project is to get people together and to explore the environmental impact of their own personalized business in different locations of America, which taught them individually to consider the factors of resource usage, sustainability, and ecological footprint. This project all together not only tests the students’ capabilities of being creative, but it also helps them with their understanding of the principles of physics, which is crucial for their out-of-school life or future. Conceptual Physics teacher, Mr. Smith states, “I was very impressed with most of their in depth analysis,” describing the assigned project.
Once the models were finalized, students presented each project to the class in their groups, and allowed them to describe their design choices, the environmental impact of their created business, and the other concepts that were applied. This was a very comprehensive project that connected varieties of creativity, scientific understanding, and the consciousness of knowing environmental impacts.
