A new month brings many new things, one of those things being two athletes of the month! This month, ASB has selected Seniors Nathan Curless and Madelyn Reedy.
Curless is a member of the Boys Varsity Basketball team; when asked about how it feels to be athlete of the month Curless stated, “It’s a real honor, you know not many people get to be selected, so it’s great to be honored for it.”
Curless was also formally a soccer player, until he was introduced to basketball through his step-dad.
“I used to play soccer until m
y stepdad came around, and he introduced me to basketball. It was about eight or nine years ago.”
While he does participate in sports, he is also an academically inclined individual. “Well I’m a scholar athlete so school is obviously first. I take my schooling very seriously.” Upon being asked about what he does outside of school and sports, Curless answered, “I usually hang out with my family and friends.”
Reedy is a member of the girls varsity soccer team. In response to being asked about how it feels to be named athlete of the month, “It feels good, I’m pretty excited.”
Reedy got her start in the sport of soccer 13 years ago! “My mom played growing up and my sister did too, so I was always around it.” She also values keeping a balance to academics and athletics. “I try to complete my work during school, but I opt out so I usually complete my work and then head to practice.”
In the future, Reedy plans to enroll at MJC and possibly play soccer, and work towards a career in medicine!
Congratulations to Nathan Curless and Madelyn Reedy for being named athletes of the month!
