Boys and girls wrestling showed out the entirety of the season and made it to divisionals wrestling to the best of their abilities. The team demonstrated their full strength and determination throughout the different matches. Each wrestler showcased their hard work and dedication, pushing through tough challenges on the mat. Their effort showed an everlasting impact upon the crowds watching.
Senior night displayed how much perseverance and grit our wrestlers have as they went up against the Sonora Wildcats. When asked about the hardest part of wrestling, senior David Banales said, “[I’d say] cutting weight and having the right mentality. It’s hard to cut a bunch of weight and go out there and perform your best.” Boys Wrestling beat Sonora 47-27 with Banales following up with their matches.
After the Jv season ended, Varsity headed to Calavares to compete in SJS D5 divisionals. Out of the 14 boys competing in divisionals, 6 of them pulled through and are headed to masters. Within the 6 participating in masters include junior Joaquin Rodriguez. When asked about how it all went, he stated,“All the boys have really locked in and tightened up their mistakes.” Rodriguez continued, “ It felt good to be on the mat but you have to wrestle your match and ultimately not be careless or scared.”
The team is looking forward to going to Masters and will have to proceed with the same energy from divisionals. Good luck to Boys Wrestling and hope for the best for them.
