Coming soon to Ripon, on April 12th, will be Rock and Roll club hosting a fundraiser. It will take place from noon to 3 pm.The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money for the victims of the Los Angeles fires. Senior James Wilkins had the idea to host this fundraiser.
There are going to be various time slots of 15 minutes each. These time slots will be available to any musicians or local bands that are interested in participating. More information and details will be coming out about those sign ups.
Performances ranging between jazz, choir, rock, and even a middle school band will be hosted. The Rock and Roll club is also going to be performing a preview during lunch the day before the event, April 11th. This is to encourage students to attend the event the day after.
There will be other activities held here like a sticker sale, sign ups for firefighting exploration, and an auction.
Wilkins, the student behind this project, is a part of our leadership program. One project that is expected from the seniors in the program is called an elder project. This project is supposed to be a presentation given in the class by the student to encourage other incoming seniors to do good and leave their mark behind on campus as well.
“There is really some tragic stuff that has happened in Los Angeles, and I want to be able to support the victims. I also want to involve people in something that’s bigger than just the club to really show that rock and roll is about more than just any kind of selfish desire,” explains Wilkins when asked what his motivation for this idea was.
The Rock and Roll club, and the community are coming together to help people in need. We hope everyone will come out and support while also enjoying some good tunes !
