With track season underway, many teams are figuring out where they are in terms of talent. After a win against Orestimba, many feel the RHS track team can continue their dominant run they’ve had the past few years. The confidence of Ripon grows as the boys beat Orestimba with a score of 113-23 and the girls with a score of 96-39.
On April 2, 2025, Ripon High hosted the Orestimba Warriors to the second dual meet of the 2025 season. After a close meet against Hughson and RC, the Ripon athletes wanted to make a statement against Orestimba. RHS did exactly that, beating Orestimba with very big leads on both the boys and girls sides. 10 RHS track athletes achieved first overall in their events against Orestimba, and several others achieved new P.R’s. This includes Senior Nathan Gaines, who ran an impressive P.R of 11.17 second 100 meter dash. This makes him third all time in RHS boys 100 meter runners only behind Dru Orlando and Landon West.
Gaines stated on his new P.R,“I wasn’t surprised, I was kind of expecting it. But dropping times like that is kinda crazy, but it is all part of the process.”

Meanwhile during field events, 10 athletes won their overall events helping lead Ripon to their second victory. However a few of these events, similar to the runners, only had RHS competition. This included both boys and girls pole vaulters and high jump. Jumpers and throwers still gave it their all during their events as many achieved new P.R’s. Olivia Maragos led the way with a S.R (season record) of 4.98 meters in Long jump.

With only a month until TVL finals every RHS athlete is giving it their all to qualify. Until then, RHS hopes to continue its undefeated streak going with their upcoming match against Hilmar.
