Football and cheerleading are one of the most popular sports at Ripon High School. They are both beloved by many fans and athletes to this day. The players of these sports have put their blood, sweat, and tears into these games that they love. On Aug 29 2025, the seniors for football and cheerleading got their flowers for all their hard work on senior night.
With every sport, seniors who participate in a sport get celebrated with senior night. Most sports have their senior nights in the final home game of the season, however the 2025 seniors for football and cheerleading had their senior night on the second home game of the season. While it may not be as special if it were on the final home game of the season, the impact it had on the players did not change.
Prior to the RHS vs Enochs football game beginning, the seniors lined up outside of the field waiting for their name to be called. When their names were announced they were escorted onto the football field with their families and for some their partners. As they walked onto the football field the announcers would read off some of the players favorite moments while playing. Some moments were more heartfelt while others had a comedic effect. By the time the seniors ended their walk, they would be handed a basket of gifts from close friends.
Senior cheer captain, Emme Wilbur, stated,”It felt odd [walking down the football field] because just two years ago I was walking my brother down for football. So it just felt odd being on the other side of it and he was walking me down because it was my senior night.”
After being celebrated for their hard work and dedication, the senior football players and cheerleaders returned to their teams. Both squads would then go on to have incredible performances as the varsity football team beat Enochs 57-28, and the cheerleaders had an amazing halftime performance. For many seniors this night was a heartfelt moment as it signified their time playing these sports at RHS coming to an end. However, with so much time left in the season there leaves much more room to make more memories and time to leave a lasting legacy at Ripon High.
