Ripon High School sets aside countless days for dress-up events, activities and clubs to encourage Indian pride among students. Students are urged to participate and embody that sense of spirit to create a fun, welcoming environment for both students and teachers.
One student who stands out is sophomore Kalvin Martin.
Martin embodies his RHS spirit by taking part in school activities and proudly wearing the school’s red and white colors. Although the school year began only a month ago, he has already dressed up for every spirit day and stepped outside his comfort zone to spread positivity among peers and staff.
A multi-sport student-athlete, Martin played junior varsity golf and varsity soccer as a freshman. He plans to continue competing for the school in the coming years.
Martin also brings spirit to the field by leading his teammates and pushing himself to make the team environment better.
“So much of it is being a leader and showing leadership in some remarks that you have to be willing to do stuff that might make you look stupid or might make some people not like you as much,” Martin said.
He also encourages underclassmen to step out of their shells and show school spirit in any way they can to make RHS a safe and inclusive place for all.
“It’s not that deep,” Martin states. “You just have to do it, and then you’ll have fun.”
Congratulations to Kalvin Martin for earning “Most Spirited” and living his RHS life to the fullest.
